Welcome back to Sylvanian Sunday, Week 2 – where I give over the blog to show you my progress in renovating a Sylvanian Families house. Last week were the before shots, all fairly standard – a charming house but perhaps a little lacking in personality. And that’s where I come in. This week I have managed to paint the exterior, which took a lot longer than I’d anticipated – many coats of acrylic paint required! I’ve also done the ceilings and the floors (what’s that, you don’t have painted floors at home? It’s all the rage in Sylvania!) – see what you think. I’m planning on putting rugs on the floors (aka fabric swatches) and I’m hoping that this week I might be able to start wallpapering! It’s the little details I’m really looking forward to – I’m thinking pictures on the walls, crumbs on the table from breakfast, the works!
Are you a dolls house fanatic? Do you have any tips or suggestions for me as I go about renovating this one-up one-down? My next project is a bit more ambitious – a Sylvanian Families hotel, which I got for the bargain price of £12 and saw in a toy shop for £110 today! I’m just a big kid! So here, without further ado, are the shots for Sylvanian Sunday Week 2:
Getting there! As you can see, I’m painting wherever and whenever I get the opportunity, Tibbons’ room, ironing board, you name it!
And finally, the floors and ceilings, not the most exciting part I know, but necessary all the same!
So, what do you think? I’m hoping to inject more colour (and personality) with the wallpaper and soft furnishings, but should I have been a bit more outlandish with the exterior and the flooring?!
Hope to see you next week!
