I’m back with the third Sylvanian Sunday for you lovely people tracking its progress! For any newcomers – you can find out more here, but essentially I am doing up an old Sylvanian Families house week by week and posting picture updates here each Sunday as I go.
So, I think last week I promised that there would be a bit more colour this time around? I hope you approve!
I’m really pleased with the bedroom upstairs, I like the colour scheme and the fact that I was able to use craft supplies I had lying around and an old fabric swatch, a bit of upcycling! I’m less pleased with the downstairs – Daddy-O said it looked like the wallpaper in a nightclub (which leads me to question how many years it’s been since he went to a club) and whilst I don’t agree, I do think it’s a bit busy and it’s also not quite as well done as the upstairs. However, I hope that once it’s all dressed with furniture and perhaps even some curtains it will look quite good. What do you think?
You can also see that I’ve done a bit of work on the roof – it was already a dark red colour but I painted it more of an umber and used a (brand new!) wooden kebab skewer to scratch lines into the wet paint which gives the effect of roof tiles. I’m pretty happy with it! Here are a few more photos for your delectation:
I’m both pleased and surprised with the progress I’m making, it feels like it’s really starting to come together and it’s only week 3. I have to say, it helped that Daddy-O was out for an evening this week and that Tibbons has been going to bed a bit earlier than usual, and of course that it’s just a one-up, one-down house!
Next week I’m hoping to make some progress with furniture and items to dress the house, such as pictures for the walls, curtains, maybe even another rug, that sort of thing. In the meantime, as always, I’d love to hear what you think! Hope to see you next week – same time, same place for Sylvanian Sunday part 4!
